Case Study - St Vincent Hospitals's experience implementing LGBTIQ Responsiveness

Learn about St Vincent Hospital mental health service’s journey to develop their workforce to deliver lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) responsive practice.

Sarah, along with Catherine Harrison,will share with you the outcomes of this project including some of the challenges along the way, in addition to specific examples which may support your practice/ service to become more LGBTIQ responsive.

Sarah Berriman - BIO

Sarah Berriman is a senior registrar on the Old Age Psychiatry team at St George’s Hospital, which is a part of St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. She is also the principal psychiatric registrar for St Vincent’s Hospital, and in this role has joined the LGBTI+ Steering Committee at the start of this year. Her other roles include advocating for junior doctors in psychiatry, and she is a member of the RANZCP Trainee Representative Committee. Prior to specialist training, Sarah has worked in regional Victoria, and was involved in the Junior Doctor Redesign initiative. Her interest in improving health and inclusion of the aged, those with mental illness and people who identify as gender and/or sexually diverse continues.
